Dfend’s objective has been to make its Program accessible to 100% of school & college girls, specially the ones that otherwise would remain devoid of such critical life-skills. That means, our Programs are free for government schools & colleges.
We still have to cover the trainer costs, and make sure that we have spending enough time with the students to truly make a difference in their lives. We’ve worked hard to create a super-optimized delivery model, minimizing our cost / student.
Here’s how the financials work today:
- # of Students / batch in a school = 100-200 (average = 120)
- # of Sessions / batch = 6
- Each Session requires – 1 Senior trainer + 1 Supporting (junior) trainer
- Cost / trainer per session (including commute cost): Senior trainer – ₹1000. Junior trainer – ₹500.
- Training Cost per batch = ₹9000
- Training Cost per Student = ₹75 only!
- Other Cost per Student (e.g. Certificate printing) = ₹15.
- Total Cost per Student = ₹90. For simplicity and keeping buffer, we assume ₹100.
Costs that are already covered through various partnerships and corporate support:
- Generally, in such training environments, the indirect costs of operations, including operations staff, coordination, systems, workspace, technology etc. are ₹3-6L / year.
