Today took a different turn from our usual practice- it was about awareness as much as action. After our regular drills and self-defense training, we held an interactive lecture with the girls on the issue of drug abuse, a topic often hushed but deeply important.
We began by understanding what substance abuse really means and how it affects not just the body, but also the mind, relationships, and future. The discussion was not just limited to drugs alone. We also spoke about how tobacco and alcohol can be equally harmful, often disguised as “social habits” but carrying serious risks of addiction and long-term damage.
What stood out most was the participation. Hands shot up with questions, doubts, and even personal reflections. The girls discussed peer pressure, the role of social media, and how curiosity can easily lead down a dangerous path. Together, we explored practical strategies for saying “no,” seeking help when needed, and standing strong for ourselves and our friends.
As I headed home, one thought stayed with me: defending our thoughts is just as important as defending our bodies. Isn’t it?
